Wood Care & Maintenance

I take careful consideration when making my products. From the wood type to the treatment, my hope is that my products will last a long time. That is why I have put together instructions on how to care for and maintain your piece. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

The materials I use are hardy and strong. However, they still need care. Here are a few tips on how to make it last:

Cleaning

  • You can wash the wood. Use warm soapy water, and rinse off after each use. Wood is a natural antibacterial so a light wash will suffice.

  • Avoid leaving it in water or soaking it. This means no to the dishwasher too. This can damage and weaken the wood.

Maintenance

  • Treat your wood with the handmade beeswax and mineral oil paste provided (and you can purchase more). If you don’t have any on hand, make sure to treat it with food safe oils, like mineral oil. I recommend doing this about once a month (depending on how often you use it) and letting it sit for a couple hours.

  • If your board feels less smooth over time, which can happen with wear, you can give it a very light sanding. I recommend between 320 and 400 grit. After your sand, reapply the wood paste or oil.
